Why Is My Shower Cabin Radio or Bluetooth Not Working?

Most radio or Bluetooth faults on a shower cabin or steam shower are a volume, mode or pairing issue rather than a broken speaker. Check the phone's volume and the panel's own volume control separately, confirm you're in the right mode, and only look at the speaker itself if the sound buzzes or crackles rather than staying silent.

Quick diagnosis

If your shower cabin is showing these symptoms:

  • Bluetooth pairs to the panel but no sound plays
  • A buzzing or crackling sound instead of clear audio
  • The radio or Bluetooth won't pair or connect at all
  • Sound cuts in and out during a shower

Likely causes, most likely first

  1. Volume turned down somewhere. The phone’s volume and the panel’s own volume control (usually a “Vol+” button) are separate, and both need to be turned up.
  2. The panel is in the wrong audio mode. Most panels run separate FM radio and Bluetooth modes, and it needs to be on the right one to play what you’re trying to hear.
  3. A loose or failing connection to the roof speaker. Produces buzzing, crackling or silence even though the panel shows a paired connection.

Likely cause

Most models run FM radio and Bluetooth through the same control panel and a single speaker mounted in the roof. Silence with a successful pairing is almost always a volume or mode setting rather than a fault, since the phone's volume, the panel's volume and the FM/Bluetooth mode selector are all separate controls. Buzzing or crackling is a different signal … that points to the speaker connection itself rather than a setting.

Check this first

  • Check the volume on your phone AND the panel’s own volume control … both have to be turned up
  • Confirm the panel is actually in Bluetooth mode rather than FM radio mode, or vice versa
  • Check your panel and generator for a ‘DAB’ marking … not every model has it

Repair overview

Repair difficulty: Easy

Estimated repair time: 10-20 minutes

Tools needed: None for pairing checks; screwdriver if replacing the speaker

How to identify your part

A buzzing speaker points to the speaker connection rather than the control panel. Some higher-spec panels also carry DAB … check the serial code printed on the panel or generator for a ‘DAB’ marking before assuming yours should have it.

How to fix it

  1. Turn up the volume on your phone and separately on the control panel itself
  2. Confirm the panel is switched to Bluetooth mode rather than FM radio mode, or vice versa
  3. Re-pair your phone from scratch by forgetting the device and pairing again
  4. Listen for buzzing or crackling rather than silence, which points to the speaker connection rather than the pairing
  5. If the sound only buzzes or crackles, check the speaker’s connection at the roof with the power off
  6. Replace the speaker if the connection is sound but the buzzing continues

When to call a professional

This is a low-voltage audio fault, not mains wiring, so nothing here needs an electrician unless the speaker fault turns out to be linked to a wider power issue on the panel.
