Door Seals
If steam escapes round a door that closes properly, water gets past the glass, or mould keeps coming back in the seal folds, the seal is worth changing. Seals aren’t universal: they’re matched by glass thickness, length and where they sit on the door. Ours match the profile of several Insignia seals and suit Vidalux SS and Essence cabins. Measure the old seal’s length and your glass thickness first, or send a photo of the seal on the door.

How to identify yours
- Where the doors meet: a magnetic strip that holds the doors closed is a magnetic seal. Ours are a pair, 1800mm by 20mm.
- Along the trailing edge: a flap pushed onto the glass is a trailing door edge seal. Ours are 1800mm, with a 24mm flap measured including the part that pushes onto the glass, sold as a set of 4.
- On a fixed panel: a U shaped strip between the glass and the frame is a glass edge U seal, sold per metre.
- Length: measure the old strip end to end before you order, rather than going by the model name.
Symptoms and likely causes
Door won’t seal: usually the frame or door out of line, not the seal. See a door that won’t seal.
Leaks at a panel or door join while the shower runs, with the spray not aimed straight at the join: a seal strip may have perished, come loose or been fitted the wrong way round. See a cabin that leaks while running.
Mould back in the same spot on the seal after cleaning: replace the seal. See mould inside the cabin.
Water under the tray: that’s usually the waste, not a door seal. See a leak from the bottom.

Fitting tip
Check the tray is level before you fit new seals. A tray out of level twists the frame, and the doors won’t meet however good the seals are.
When to call a professional
Replacing a seal is a job you can do yourself. A frame that has gone out of square is different: your installer should square it up, as forcing the panels into line won’t hold.
Frequently asked questions
Why does steam get out when water doesn’t?
Steam finds a smaller gap than water. A seal that has hardened with age can hold water back and still let steam past, so once the tray checks level, replace it rather than adjusting the door again.
Will they fit 8mm glass?
No. Our magnetic and trailing seals suit 4 to 6mm glass, and the U seal 4mm.
How much U seal do I need?
Measure each glass edge it runs along and order by the metre.
Seal already off? Send us a photo of its cut end, side on, and we’ll match the profile.
