Steam Generator Electronics

If your generator won’t fill, keeps filling, or the panel no longer runs the steam, the fault can sit in the electronics box or a solenoid on the generator. None of these parts is universal. An electronics box has to match your control pad, and it only suits generators with separate electronics, not all-in-one units. Unsure which you have? Tell us the model number on your control pad and we’ll match the box.

How to identify yours

  • Control pad: the box goes with the pad. Ours suit MK117, MK117B and MK117BQ pads, a TR019 pad or a TR002Y-1 pad.
  • All-in-one or separate: these boxes don’t fit generators with the electronics built in. For those, see our all-in-one units, matched to the pad the same way: MK117, MK117B, MK117BQ FM, MK117BQ DAB and TR019.
  • Radio: the MK117BQ box comes in an FM or a DAB version. Pick the one your pad uses from the dropdown.

Symptoms and likely causes

Generator keeps filling and won’t stop: a scaled level sensor, or an inlet solenoid stuck open. See a generator that keeps filling.

Generator won’t fill: usually the supply, a kinked hose or the small filter in the inlet solenoid blocked with grit or scale. See a generator that won’t fill.

No steam at all: often a stuck inlet or drain solenoid. A failed control board is less common. See no steam.

Panel completely dead: usually power not reaching the unit, before it’s the electronics. See a dead control panel.

Panel lights up but no button does anything: the electric control box behind the cabin is the likely fault, not the panel.

Fitting tip

A panel that blanks and reboots on its own is often the multipin plug on the power cable behind the cabin, not the box. Have that checked first: a loose plug reads exactly like a failed part. See a panel that keeps resetting.

When to call a professional

Every box and solenoid on this page connects into the generator’s electrics. Isolate the power and have an electrician do it, including unplugging the generator. If the cabin has to come away from the wall to reach it, isolate the power before it moves.

Frequently asked questions

Which generator does each box connect to?

The MK117 box joins a compatible slimline generator, the TR019 box a TR019 generator, and the TR002Y-1 box a TR002Y-1 slimline generator.

Which solenoid do I need?

The one that has failed. The inlet solenoid lets water into the generator and the drain solenoid lets it out. Both are 12V DC.

Why is a hose on this page?

Our 100cm steam generator hose isn’t electrical. It’s the insulated hose from the generator to the steam pod, with 1/2-inch BSP fittings on both ends.

Electrician already there? Send us a photo of the old box and your control pad, and we’ll confirm the match before you order.
