How to identify yours

  • Supply hoses carry hot and cold from your mains to the valve. Ours are braided, with 1/2-inch BSP fittings, in 50cm, 100cm and 150cm.
  • Outlet hoses run from the valve to the monsoon, hand shower or foot spa. Ours are PVC, 50cm to 150cm, with a 1/2-inch BSP screw fitting at one end or both; a plain end is held with a jubilee clip.
  • Steam generator hoses are insulated and run from the generator to the steam outlet: 70cm or 100cm, with 1/2-inch BSP fittings both ends.
  • Push fittings have a push end that goes into the hose, held with a jubilee clip, and a screw end for the shower feature.

Symptoms and likely causes

A dripping hose is almost always a missing or worn washer at one end. See a leaking hose.

Water behind the cabin whether or not the shower has run points to a supply connection. See water behind the cabin.

Weak flow can be a kinked hose, a blocked filter washer or a stuck non-return valve. See low water pressure.

Fitting tip

On a steam shower, a 1/2-inch BSP brass T-piece on the valve’s cold input takes a feed off to the steam generator. Some of our shower valves need one; the valve’s product page says so.

When to call a professional

Isolate the water before you undo any hose. Supply hoses join your household pipework, so if an isolation valve or the pipework itself needs changing, that’s a plumber’s job. If the cabin has to come away from the wall, isolate the power first.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cut a hose to length?

Yes, with our PVC hose sold by the metre. It comes without fittings, so finish each end with a push fitting and a jubilee clip.

Can I use a water hose for the steam?

Not on its own. The pipe from the generator to the steam outlet has to be lagged and insulated, so our steam generator hoses come insulated.

Are jubilee clips included?

Not with our plastic push fitting or the angled brass push fitting. Our jubilee clips are sold in pairs.
