When a shower valve drips, won’t switch outlets or has a knob that no longer grips, one part inside it has usually failed … and that part can be changed on its own. How to identify your part

Diverter core: count your outlets, then measure the barrel diameter (ours run from 33mm to 46mm) and the spindle length.
On/off valve: 18mm or 24mm across.
Knob: our temperature knobs fit an 8.5mm, 24-tooth spindle and fix with a 2.5mm grub screw.
Face plate: measure the overall diameter and the centre hole. Our standard temperature plate is 80mm with a 42mm hole.

Symptoms and likely causes

Water that won’t shut off, or drips from around the middle dial, is the on/off valve, and our on/off valve guide shows the swap. See why the water won’t turn off and why it drips from the control knob.

Fitting tip

Our 33mm and 35mm diverter cores can’t be reached from the front of the cabin. The whole valve housing comes out from behind, so check you can reach the back first.

When to call a professional

Isolate the water before opening any valve. If getting to the back means moving the cabin from the wall, isolate the power first. Solenoid valves run on 12V from the control panel, so isolate the power before changing one. A fault in the wiring that feeds them is a job for an electrician.

Frequently asked questions

Does the colour of a diverter core matter?

Sometimes. Our 33mm 3-way, 35mm 4-way and 38mm 5-way (40mm spindle) cores vary in colour between batches and still fit. For our 37mm, 36.5mm and 46mm cores, a different colour or design means a different part.

My cabin switches outlets from a control panel, not a dial. Which part does that?

A solenoid valve. We sell 3-way and 4-way versions, switched from the shower’s control panel.

Will one diverter core suit a two dial and a three dial valve?

Our 33mm 3-way and 35mm 4-way cores suit both.
