Control Panels

A blank screen, buttons that don’t respond, or a panel that switches itself on can all mean the control panel has failed … though check the power and for moisture first. Panels aren’t interchangeable: each must match the steam generator and electronics it runs. We stock MK117, MK220, TR and HY139 panels for steam showers and shower-only cabins. Not sure which you have? The model number on the back of the panel tells us.

How to identify yours

  • Model number: it’s on the back of the panel, and it must match your generator and electronics.
  • Cut-out size: MK117 panels fit a 148mm × 85mm hole, TR027 and TR029 150mm × 85mm, TR019 185mm × 55mm, MK220 200mm × 60mm, TR002Y-1 150mm × 105mm and HY139 155mm × 60mm.
  • Steam or not: the MK117L and TR027 are for shower cabins without steam.
  • MK117B or MK117BQ: the BQ has a 4-pin connection for a colour-changing light, and comes in FM or DAB versions.

Symptoms and likely causes

A completely blank panel is usually power, not the panel: check the RCD and the fuse. See a steam shower that won’t turn on.

Beeping usually means the generator can’t confirm it has water. See a beeping panel.

A panel that switches itself on usually has moisture behind it. See a shower that turns on by itself.

A panel that reboots on its own may have a loose connector behind the cabin. See a shower that keeps resetting.

Fitting tip

An MK117 panel is held to the control tower by four bolts, reached from behind the cabin. Have someone inside to hold the panel as the bolts come out, so it doesn’t drop.

When to call a professional

Isolate the power before you touch a panel or its cables. If power isn’t reaching the unit at all, or the RCD keeps tripping, get an electrician to check the supply.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fit a different model of panel?

Only with the generator and electronics made for it. If you change the panel model, you’ll need the matching generator and electronics too.

Which TR019 connection do I need?

Our TR019 panel comes with a single round, twin multi-pin or newer 4-pin connection. Twin multi-pin is the standard, and it matches all our TR019 generators and all-in-one units.

What powers the HY139 panel?

The EI-BY AC adapter: 230V in, 12V AC out, with a UK plug.
