Shower Valves

If your shower won’t hold its temperature, won’t turn off, or leaks from behind the dials, the valve is a likely cause. Shower valves are not universal, so match yours before you order. We stock two and three dial valves, including versions made for Insignia and Aqualusso cabins. Not sure which you have? Send us a photo and your cabin’s model number.

  • A vertically oriented product image of a three-dial shower mixer valve, showing the chrome control knobs stacked in line and mounted on round chrome faceplates. The image demonstrates the spacing between the controls and the compact layout commonly found in shower cabins, steam showers, and hydro massage shower systems, helping customers visually compare against an existing valve during replacement.A high-resolution studio image of a 3 dial thermostatic shower mixer valve photographed at an angle against a black background. The valve is shown fully assembled with three chrome control dials mounted on circular backplates, connected by a rigid metal manifold. The polished chrome finish reflects light clearly, highlighting the smooth surfaces of the controls and indicating how the valve appears once installed behind a shower cabin control panel as a replacement unit.

  • A close-up image of a 1/2" brass push-fit adapter, designed to screw onto a threaded shower valve outlet and allow hose connections to be secured using a jubilee clip. The image highlights the internal threading and barbed hose connection, showing how this accessory is used when converting a threaded shower mixer valve for use with push-fit hoses in older shower cabins.A detailed studio close-up of the Aqualuso Opus Thermostatic Shower Mixer Valve, showing the inlet side of the valve assembly against a clean white background. This image clearly displays the 1/2” BSP threaded inlet connections used for hot and cold water supply, along with the additional inlet used to feed a steam generator where applicable. A high-resolution studio photograph of the Aqualuso Opus Thermostatic Shower Mixer Valve, shown fully assembled with all three chrome control dials installed, positioned horizontally against a clean white background. The image presents the valve as it would appear once fitted behind a shower cabin control panel, making it ideal for homeowners identifying a like-for-like replacement part. The valve consists of three evenly spaced cylindrical control sections connected by a solid metal manifold pipe. Each control is mounted on a circular chrome backplate, giving the valve a clean, symmetrical appearance. The left-hand control represents the selector mechanism used to direct water to the installed shower functions. The central control operates the flow and on/off function, while the right-hand control houses the thermostatic cartridge responsible for regulating and maintaining a stable water temperature. Below the control assembly, the chrome-plated valve body transitions into a textured metal housing where the threaded connection ports are visible. These 1/2” BSP threaded connections are designed for compatibility with Aqualuso Opus shower cabins and steam showers, allowing the valve to be replaced without modifying existing pipework. The image clearly shows the compact layout and fixed spacing between controls, confirming the 100mm centre-to-centre measurements used across the Opus range. Branding elements are visible within the image, including the Aqualusso logo in the lower corner and the Opus mark in the upper corner, reinforcing that this valve is part of the Opus system. This visual helps customers confidently identify the correct replacement mixer valve when their existing Aqualuso Opus shower valve has failed, seized, or no longer operates correctly.

  • A close-up studio image of the outlet side of an Insignia thermostatic shower mixer valve, showing multiple threaded outlet ports extending from the chrome-plated valve body. These outlets distribute water to the different shower functions found in an Insignia steam shower, shower cabin, or steam shower bath, such as overhead showers, hand showers, or body jets. The image clearly displays the internal brass threading and robust construction, helping homeowners identify the correct Insignia replacement valve for their shower system.A high-resolution studio image of an Insignia 3-dial thermostatic shower mixer valve shown fully assembled in a horizontal layout against a clean white background. The valve features three polished chrome control dials mounted on circular backplates, connected by a solid metal manifold, as commonly fitted behind the control panel of an Insignia steam shower, shower cabin, or steam shower bath. This view shows how the valve appears once installed, helping homeowners identify a like-for-like replacement when an existing Insignia shower valve has failed or seized.

How to identify your valve

  • Count the dials. On a three dial valve the bottom dial sets the temperature, the middle one turns the flow on and off, and the top one picks the outlet.
  • Measure between the dial centres. Ours come at fixed centres of 100mm, 140mm or 150mm, and our adjustable two dial valves take 100mm to 200mm.
  • Count the outlets: hand shower, monsoon, body jets and so on. The steam outlet doesn’t count … it’s a separate water feed to the generator and has nothing to do with the valve’s mechanism, so it isn’t one of the valve’s outputs.
  • Check the hose connections: 1/2-inch BSP threaded, or push-fit held with jubilee clips.

Symptoms and likely causes

Temperature swinging, or stuck on hot or cold, is usually the thermostatic cartridge. See water stuck on hot or cold.

Water that won’t shut off is usually the on/off valve, behind the middle dial on a three dial valve. See water that won’t turn off.

Water from the wrong outlet is the diverter core. See water from the wrong outlet.

All three are sold on their own in Shower Valve Parts, so check them before replacing the whole valve.

Fitting tip

A thermostatic valve needs hot and cold at balanced pressure, or the thermostat gets damaged. With a combi boiler, a single impeller pump or a mains pressure cylinder, fit a pressure equalising valve. A twin impeller pump doesn’t need one.

When to call a professional

Isolate the water before you start. If you have to pull the cabin from the wall to reach the valve, isolate the power first. New supply pipework is a plumber’s job. Our mixer valve replacement guide covers taking the old valve out.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fit a valve with more outlets than I need?

Yes. Blank off the spare outlets with 1/2-inch BSP brass blanking nuts.

Do I need anything extra for a steam shower?

Sometimes. Our 2 Dial Shower Mixer, 2 Dial Thermostatic and 140mm valves need a 1/2-inch BSP brass T-piece on the cold input to feed the generator. The 2 Dial 3 Output valve has its own steam connection.

What water pressure does the Insignia valve need?

Between 1 and 3 bar, balanced across hot and cold, with at least 7.5 litres a minute.

Still unsure? Photograph the front panel with a tape measure across the dial centres, and one of the back of the valve if you can reach it, and we’ll tell you which valve fits.
