Diverter Cores

If your selector won’t turn, turns without changing anything, or sends water out of the wrong outlet, the diverter core behind the selector dial is the likely cause. Cores aren’t universal: the barrel width, the spindle length and the number of ways all have to match. We also stock the 40mm lever tap cartridge for non-thermostatic mixers. How to identify yours

  • Count the ways: the outlets your selector switches between, such as monsoon, hand shower, body jets, foot spa or bath filler. The water feed to a steam generator isn't one of them.
  • Barrel diameter: 33mm on our 3 way, 35mm and 37mm on the 4 ways, 36.5mm and 38mm on the 5 ways, and 38mm and 46mm on the 6 ways.
  • Spindle length: it varies even within a size. Our 33mm core comes with a 40mm or 44mm spindle, and the 37mm with a 40mm or 45mm.
  • Locator pins: measure the spacing too: 21mm on the 33mm core, 20mm on the 35mm, 29mm on our 38mm 6 ways.

Symptoms and likely causes

A selector that won't move, or turns without switching, is the core jammed or no longer gripped by its knob. See a stuck selector.

Water from the wrong outlet, or two at once, is a core that no longer seals between positions. See water from the wrong outlet.

On a non-thermostatic mixer, water that won't shut off can be the lever tap cartridge. See water that won't turn off.

Fitting tip

On our 33mm 3 way core, the 44mm spindle is the one typically found in Vidalux, Insignia, Aqualusso, Lisna Waters, Opus and Alto cabins.

When to call a professional

Isolate the water first. Our 33mm and 35mm cores can't be reached from the front: the valve housing comes out from behind. If the cabin has to come away from the wall for that, isolate the power first.

Frequently asked questions

My new core is a different colour. Will it fit?

On our 33mm, 35mm and 38mm 5 way (40mm spindle) cores, yes: the colour changes between batches. On the 37mm, 36.5mm and 46mm cores, a different colour or design means a different part.

I have a two dial valve. Will these fit?

Our 33mm 3 way and 35mm 4 way cores suit both two and three dial thermostatic valves, and the green 6 way also suits regular mixer valves.

What does the lever tap cartridge do?

On a non-thermostatic mixer, our 40mm lever tap cartridge turns the water on and off and mixes hot and cold. It replaces the cartridge in every regular mixer we sell.
