Steam Pods

A steam pod is the outlet inside the cabin where the steam comes in, not the generator that makes it. If yours has cracked, lost its lid or come loose, match it by shape and by the nut on the back: barrel, oval or chrome. Ours are used in Insignia, Vidalux, Aqualusso, Aqualux and Lisna Waters cabins. Not sure which you’ve got? A photo of the pod, front and back, tells us.

How to identify yours

  • Barrel: the barrel pod is 80mm x 110mm, with a removable cup and lid and a 40mm rear nut.
  • Oval: the oval pod is 55mm x 85mm, with a 20mm rear nut.
  • Chrome: the chrome pod is 60mm x 120mm, with a 1/2-inch BSP rear nut. It’s found in later cabins and whirlpool shower units.
  • Steam room outlet: our hex nut outlet fits generators with a 1/2-inch BSP male steam out connection.

Symptoms and likely causes

Hot water spurting from the pod during a session: usually a scaled level sensor overfilling the generator. A few drips afterwards is normal condensation. See water from the steam outlet.

Stale or musty steam: stagnant water in the generator or its pipework, not the pod. See steam that smells bad.

Weak steam: restricted water reaching the generator, or heat escaping the cabin. See weak steam.

Fitting tip

Fitting the hex nut outlet in a steam room? Set it about 150mm above the floor, at the opposite end from the seat and away from the door. Never put the control panel above it: a thermostat in the panel won’t give a true reading.

When to call a professional

The pod sits on the end of the steam pipe from the generator, and that pipe must stay lagged and insulated. Isolate the power before you take a pod off. Anything inside the generator or its wiring: isolate the power and have an electrician do it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add essential oils?

At our hex nut outlet, yes: oils can be added there.

My barrel pod is fine but the nut has cracked. Do I need a whole pod?

No. The barrel rear nut is sold on its own, in ABS plastic with a threaded section.

Is the Aqualux kit the same as your barrel pod?

Nearly: it shares the barrel’s size and nut, and adds a clear safety guard.

Still unsure? Measure the pod and its rear nut, then send us a photo with your cabin’s model number.
